/ The History...

..in spring 1998, a group of women from Graz/Austria founded "the mailing list 42" in order to discuss, ask and answer questionsaround computer technologies. Thus the (media-)artists, technicians, scientists, musicians, and theoreticians, elaborated on possibilities to learn from each other and to develop projects together. The mailing listīs language then was German. Due to an international meeting in Graz in summer 1998, women from Ljubljana, Belgrad, Amsterdam and Berlin joined "42". Some sort of Babelfish became necessary. And it came quickly, though in an unususal way. The simultaneous way of travelling, the locomotive was removed by sound- and video-experiments, real-audio streamings, a collaborate videoproject - for "42" a frequent flow of communication beyond the limits of language was established.
